SRG Announces New Team Members

SRG is growing and we’re excited to welcome new talent to the firm! Please join us in celebrating our newest team members:

Ann Awantang, AIA, LEED AP, has been hired in SRG’s Seattle studio as an Associate. Ann brings over 15 years of design experience on project types ranging from higher education to mixed use residential clients, including Kilroy 333 Dexter South Lake Union and UC San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Ann will be joining the SRG team’s recently won Tacoma Behavioral Health project, bringing her technical documentation and exterior envelope detailing skills. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University.

Susan Olmsted, AIA, ASLA, LEED AP BD+C, has joined SRG’s Seattle studio as a Senior Associate and Senior Project Leader. Susan has over 20 years of industry experience and brings a unique skillset as a dual practitioner – earning a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington. She has provided interdisciplinary design leadership and project management for a variety of project types, including higher education, environmental education facilities, interpretive facilities, outdoor recreation areas, campuses, and cultural and historic projects. Project highlights include the Blakely Elementary School on Bainbridge Island, the University of California San Diego Mesa Nueva Housing and the Sustainability Treehouse in Mt. Hope, West Virginia.

Stephanie Tauber, AIA, has been hired in SRG’s Portland studio as an Associate. As an architect with 8 years of design experience on a variety of projects, Stephanie has successfully worked in project architect and project manager roles. Projects of note in Stephanie’s portfolio include the Alameda Medical Respite & Wellness Center and the WSDOT NW Regional Headquarters. Stephanie graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon.

Justin Heu has joined SRG’s Seattle studio as a designer. He earned his Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Hawaii and his Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Justin brings passion and talent for emerging technologies in building and design, as well as strong technical and graphics skills, and is especially fascinated in the application of generative design.

Harley Cowan, LEED AP, has re-joined SRG’s Portland studio as a Senior Associate and Senior Lab Planner. Previously at SRG from 2014-2017, Harley brings 25 years of industry experience with a focus on laboratory and healthcare planning for research, veterinary science, biotech, and higher education clients. Project highlights include Oregon Health & Science University Center for Radiochemistry Research, University of Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostics Center and University of Oregon Klamath Hall Renovation for Synthetic Chemistry. His unique lab planning knowledge was influenced by his years working in production and research & development laboratories in the nuclear industry. Also known for his large format photography, Harley has been awarded many research fellowships, including AFO’s Van Evera Bailey Fellow in 2020 and one from SRG in 2015 to study heritage photo documentation. Harley earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University and studied abroad in Vladivostok, Russia at the Far Eastern State Technical University.

Tuan Nguyen has been hired in SRG’s Seattle studio as a designer. Tuan brings strong rendering and design experience through his work on a variety of commercial, mixed-use, and competition projects. He is particularly passionate about architecture’s connection to the environment and its ability to enhance the human experience. Tuan earned his Master of Architecture from University of Texas at Arlington.

HaQuyen Nguyen has been hired in SRG’s Portland studio as a Project Team Assistant. HaQuyen brings her exceptional administrative experience to the team, including knowledge of complex calendaring systems, social media, managing AIA contracts, and coordinating travel and other special events. Her favorite thing about architecture is the unique art of each space. Every building or bridge she sees in Portland has distinctive characteristics, and she appreciates the effort to conserve and restore historic buildings. HaQuyen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and Leadership, as well as Human Resources. She also obtained a Certificate in International Business.
